Zagreb, Croatia!

Hello everyone from sunny Zargeb, Croatia!

Just a quick update to let you know what has happened to us since last we spoke.

From Singapore we had a "fun?" 12 hour flight to Frankfurt where we then "enjoyed?" a 6 hour stopover (and a German sausage and bagel - that was enjoyable) before we finally boarded a bus that took us to our plane for a 2 hour flight to Zagreb where we arrived to a beautiful, sunny, 21 degree perfectly temperate day.

A little exhausted but so excited to finally be in Europe we found our way to Tihomirs. Tihomir owns the small but cozy apartment/attic we are staying in. It could not be in a better location, on a quiet street right in the heart of Zagreb. We are surrounded by alfresco cafes and cobblestone pathways.

We have spent the last two days walking, exploring and enjoying the city. There is so much fascinating history, architecture and art on every corner. We have found art exhibitions, museums, book stores, jewellery and clothing designers and both feel that this is a bohemian hide away.

Currently there is a street performer festival on, would you believe we have only manage to catch two shows, both of which were Australian performers! They really appreciated our loud cheers. Given I was one of the loudest in the audience I have been pulled up to help out with both - clearly I completely hated this.

We have been trying out the local cuisine and beers, delicious! There seems to be a strong Italian influence, with lots of lasagne, pizza and pasta on the menu. We find the cost of living here quite reasonable thus far. We are attempting to speak a little Croatian, with "Hvala" being about all we have mastered, meaning thank you.

Today we join a tour which will see us finish up in Zagreb overnight before heading in a bus down to Plitvice National Park, Split and Dubrovnik over the coming few days.

Hope all is well, until next time!

Pa, I've included a couple of photo's of Zagreb's oldest pharmacy which was founded in 1355 and still operates today as a pharmacy.
